On Monday 26 March 2018, the KRA GROUP, Southeast Asia’s premier public affairs consulting firm, hosted an event entitled, “Bridging the Gap: Millennials & Politicians”. This was at Tommy Le Baker at the Zhongshan Building in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur and attended by a diverse group of young Malaysians.
The event brought together young voters and emerging politicians. As the average age of the KRA GROUP’s Research and Advisory team (which organized the gathering) is 25 years old, this was an event created by and for the youth to encourage a candid conversation between panellists and attendees about politics and everyday life.
The panel of speakers consisted of three rising politicians: Wan Saiful Wan Jan, Deputy Chairman, Strategy and Policy Bureau of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu; Shahril Hamdan, UMNO Youth Exco Member; and Lim Yi Wei, the DAP Petaling Jaya City Councillor.
The KRA GROUP’s Director of Strategy, Amir Fareed Rahim moderated the event, posing questions from a “fishbowl” which contained anonymous questions from the audience.
Amir Fareed said: “We are tremendously excited to host three very exciting and up-and-coming Malaysian politicians. This event is to facilitate a meeting of minds between them as well as young Malaysian voters. The KRA GROUP hopes that events like this will help to not only spur political consciousness among young Malaysians but also enrichen our public discourse.”
